Calvester R. Stanley

President & CPO – Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland

In 1992 Calvester "Cal" became the President & CPO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland and has 29 years of experience as a Club professional. Stanley, a club alumnus, joined the East Oakland Clubhouse (later the Ossian E. Carr Branch) at age nine. He earned a Junior Staff position at age 14. Stanley advanced his career at several staff levels, leading to his current position in the Movement. Under Stanley's leadership, the organization unveiled its first new facility since 1950. The addition of this state of the art, 23,000 square foot facility, expands the organization to three full-size, full-service Clubhouses with a youth membership goal of 5,000.

Stanley, in addition to the service and leadership provided Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland, has worked toward the betterment of the entire Boys & Girls Club Movement. He has held leadership roles and served on several committees including Executive Secretary for the Northern California Area Council of BGCA, Chairman for the Pacific Region Training & Professional Development Advisory Committee, Chairman for the Pacific Region Administrative Conference Planning Committee and National Board Member for The Professional Association, BGCA National Conference Planning Committee and BGCA National Constitution Commission.

Stanley received his Bachelor's Degree in American Humanics from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He is a member of the 1998 Inaugural Class of The Thomas G. Garth Executive Leadership Program and Academy at the Executive Professional Level - Distinguished. He has been awarded BGCA Service to Youth Award (25 years) and National Herman S. Prescott Award Recipient. Stanley takes great pride in being named 1973 Boy of the Year, Boys Clubs of Oakland. Stanley is a founding member of both the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Nu Chi Chapter and the Society of African American Professionals (SOAAP).
