April began working in the Movement in 1988 with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago as a Program Director of the Henry Horner Club. Her experience with the Chicago organization spans 15 years and included career growth to Club Director of both the Yancey Club in 1990 and McCormick Club in 1994 to Assistance Vice President of Operation in 1999. April is a member of the Academy of Boys & Girls Clubs Professionals, served as a National Training Associate, completed the Management Program and became a Woodruff Fellow, earning a Master of Public Administration, Nonprofit from the Roosevelt University.
April is currently a Regional Service Director, joining the Midwest team in February 2003. Her service areas include Boys & Girls Club organizations in Kentucky, Missouri and West Virginia. As the Regional Service Director, she serves as the liaison between the local organization and the national organization providing tools, resources and educational experiences which will help organizations advance in the areas of Board Development, Staff Development, Resource Development, Marketing & Communications, Program, Financial Management and Facilities. All for the sole purpose of achieving the Boys & Girls Clubs' mission "To inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens."
