Robert is an accomplished executive with over thirty-five years of general management, retail and non-profit leadership experience. He has a proven record of significant contributions across all functional areas, including total P&L responsibility and the integration of newly acquired as well as existing divisions into established organizations. His has considerable accomplishments in sales, inventory shrink control, and employee satisfaction.
As former President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, Howard managed a budget of $18 million and under his leadership Clubs serve a diverse population of over 17,000 youth, ages 6 to 18. The Clubs provide structured after-school and summer programming at 31 Clubs and 3 childcare centers. Howard was a Club kid while growing up on Chicago’s south side. He credits the positive values and guidance he received from caring adult professionals at the Club as a contributor to his success in corporate America. Howard is an active member of several civic institutions including the Capital Improvement Advisory Committee, City of Chicago; was featured in Crains Chicago Business magazine; has been recognized for outstanding community service by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs and; has appeared on numerous TV programs stressing mentorship and community involvement. He is the Chair of the Lou Dantzler Legacy programs which include the annual Professional Management Seminar, African American Male Teen Summit and the Parent Involvement Programs for the Society of African American Professionals.
