The Society of African-American Professionals seeks to recognize individuals that have made significant contributions to African-Americans within the Boys & Girls Club Movement.

The Lou Dantzler Award represents the dedication, concern, and commitment by an individual or organization in attracting and mentoring African-Americans to greater heights within the Boys & Girls Club Movement.

The Judith J. Pickens Award represents the commitment, dedication, and service contributed by African-American females to the Boys & Girls Club Movement.

The Founders Award celebrates a “career milestone” achieved by an individual with twenty or more years of service focused on the development of Boys & Girls Club youth and professionals.

The Robert Hassin Scholarship is provided to an African-American Professional to assist in travel to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Conference.


The W.T. Coleman Fellows Program was formulated in 2005, in honor of W.T. Coleman, the first African-American paid professional at both the local and then the national level. This program will provide financial resources for the continuation of the mission of the Society of African-American Professionals; provide financial assistance to professionals for their continued career development, and for ongoing funding toward the development of the African-American Historical Display.


The society of African-American Professional Awards nomination is opened to individuals and organizations that have demonstrated significant commitment for African-Americans Professionals in their advancement within the Boys & Girls Club Movement.
